SEATTLE SEAWOLVES TAKE A CHANCE WITH NEWEST SIGNING
He represented the United States in U20, U23, as a Select and as an Eagle. He has played in the MLR since 2019 with Rugby ATL (now LA) and most recently for Rugby New York. When the New York/Toronto dispersal draft happened, Clarkie wasn’t taking a chance with this draft, Chance Wenglewski is a sure thing.
“Chance is a very impressive young man. Although he’s only entering his prime years as a front row forward he has already amassed 5 years in MLR and represented the Eagles. He’s also an equally impressive human being. We see Chance as a big part of our future, it’s a pleasure to welcome him and his wife Mariah to the Seawolves family!” – Director of Rugby and Head Coach, Allen “Clarkie” Clarke
Wenglewski wrestled and played rugby and football throughout high school in Tulsa, OK. Even though he found his way to Lindenwood University through a football scholarship, Wenglewski shined on the rugby pitch. It was there he was selected as a member of the US national under-20 rugby team. In 2017, he participated in the Men’s Collegiate All-Americans’ match against Oxford University. It was during this time that he also played for the USA Selects, participating at the Americas Pacific Challenge in 2017 and 2018.
Wenglewski was called up to the Eagles ahead of the 2018 Americas Rugby Championship. He made his debut later that year in an uncapped match against the Māori All Blacks and would receive his first cap playing against Ireland.
Before the ink dried on his college diploma, he had secured a position with Rugby ATL. In 2021, after two seasons in ATL, Wenglewski moved to NY where he would spend the next two seasons, including their championship season with Rugby New York, before joining Seattle Seawolves Rugby.
“Hello Seawolves Family! It is with great pleasure that I join Seattle in its journey to the MLR Shield. I am Blessed to be a part of a club with a rich history and more importantly, management and players. Looking forward to a fantastic season in the PNW. Much love and ready to hunt.”
