Griquas’ Pelser Seattle Bound to Join the Seawolves Pack
Seattle, Washington — The Seattle Seawolves have signed former Griquas Lock, FP Pelser for the 2020 Major League Rugby season.
The 24-year-oldBethlehem native got into the professional pathway in his home country of South Africa with the Northern Free State Griffons U18 side and
contributed to their undefeated run during Craven Week. He then moved to Western Province to join their U19 side, where he went on to win the 2014
Currie Cup for their age-grade. Pelser progressed to another academy side with the Golden Lions U21’s and won back-to-back Currie Cup Championships.
Pelser made the jump to senior rugby next with the Griquas in 2017, competing in both the Premier Division of the Currie Cup and SuperSport Challenge
for two years. In 2019, Pelser and the Griquas won the SuperSport Challenge after 2017 and 2018 final appearances. With strong defensive technique
in both the breakdown and tackle contests, Pelser’s height and experience adds another aerialist threat to the Seawolves forward pack.
“I am extremely excited and truly grateful for the opportunity,” said Pelser. “I am really looking forward to contributing in every way that I can to the
team.”
Watch Pelser and the Seawolves at Starfire Stadium starting January 2020 with season tickets that can be purchased at www.seattleseawolves.com.
